The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed below refers to your line-operated (corded) power tool. SAVE THESE INSTrUCTIONS Work area safety Keep work area clean and well lit.
  • Page 5 Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before plugging in. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

    SpECIFIC SAFETY rULES Maintain labels and nameplates on the tool. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement. Make sure the Bandsaw is located on a flat, level, sturdy surface capable of supporting the weight of the tool, accessories, and workpieces.
  • Page 7 When cutting magnesium, use soluble oils or emulsions (oil/water mix) as water only will greatly intensify any accidental magnesium chip fire. See your industrial coolant supplier for specific coolant recommendations when cutting magnesium. Avoid unintentional starting. Prepare to begin work before turning on the tool. Do not leave the tool unattended when it is plugged into an electrical outlet.

    SAVE THESE INSTrUCTIONS. GrOUNDING Improperly connecting the grounding wire can result in WArNING WArNING electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the power cord plug provided with the tool. Never remove the grounding prong from the plug.

    Double Insulated Tools: Tools with Two prong plugs Tools marked “Double Insulated” do not require grounding. They have a special double insulation system which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., the Canadian Standard Association, and the National Electrical Code. (See Outlets for 2-prong plug.) Double insulated tools may be used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in the preceding illustration.

    UNpACkING When unpacking, check to make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.

    Rod. Insert one Cotter Pin (92-3) through the hole in each end of the Wheel Rod. Make sure to bend the Cotter Pins to secure the Wheels in place. (See Figure B.) Screw in the two Levelers (93) into the two threaded mounting holes located underneath the bottom/left side of the Stand (77S).

If a new Saw Blade (21) does not correct the problem, check the clearance between the Saw Blade and Blade Guide Bearings (2-10) to obtain proper clearance.
  • Page 19 With the Bandsaw running, turn the Adjusting Hex Head Screw (240) until the Saw Blade (21) is tracking properly, making sure Blade tension is maintained by turning the Adjustable Blade Knob (24) clockwise. (See Figure O.) Make sure to retighten the upper Hex Head Screw (243) when adjusment is complete.
  • Page 20 TO ADJUST THE BLADE GUIDE BrACkETS The Adjustable Blade Guide Knob (21) is adjusted by loosening the Knob and sliding the Adjustable Bracket (29S) up or down to accommodate the width of the workpiece. (See Figure Q.) The Adjustable Bracket (29S) should be set as close as possible to the workpiece, without interfering with the workpiece.

Set the workpiece on the Vertical Saw Table (-2), making sure to keep downward pressure on the workpiece throughout the cutting process.
  • Page 23 Never attempt to remove material stuck in the moving parts of the Bandsaw while it is plugged in and running. Turn off the Bandsaw if the workpiece is to be backed out of an uncompleted cut. Once the cut is made, turn the Motor Toggle Switch (70S4) to its “OFF” position.

    IMpOrTANT: When in the horizontal cutting mode only, the Motor Toggle Switch (70S4) will automatically turn to its “OFF” position and shut off the Bandsaw’s Motor when the cut has been completed. (See Figure T.) Once the cut is made, and the motor is switched off, turn the Coolant Pump Toggle Switch (70S2) to its “OFF”...
