INSTALLATION
It is your responsibility to choose a boat suitable for the outboard motor.
INSTALLATION POSITION
Install at the stern, at the center line
of the boat.
STERN CENTER
INSTALLATION HEIGHT
For proper propeller depth and
engine cooling, the boats transom
height must match the motor's shah
length.
The short shaft motor requires a
transom height of about:
15.0
in (381 mm)
The long shaft motor requires a
transom height of about:
20.0
in (508 mm)
ATER SURFACE
Once the boat is in the water and
loaded, check proper motor depth
by looking at the anticavitation plate:
with the motor not running, the plate
should be below the surface of the
water.
It should be about: 3.9 in (100 mm)
ANTICAVITATION PLATE
Running the outboard motor without sufficient cooling water will damage the
water pump and overheat the engine.
