    Note: Remove the projector’s lens cap when you project. The light from the projector may cause the lens cap to warp. Reverse the order shown above to turn off the projector and other equipment. After you press the Power button to turn off the projec- tor, the fan will remain on and the operation indicator will flash orange for about one minute as the projector cools.

    The application ELP Link II supports two functions related to the projector. One is the projector control function which enables you to control the projector (screen display, sound, etc.) from a computer and to manipulate the settings (user logo setting, etc.) which the projector cannot control.

    The only parts you should replace yourself are the lamp and the air filter. If any other parts need replacing, contact your EMP-7100/ 5100 dealer or qualified service personnel. When cleaning any part of the projector, always switch off and unplug the projector first.

    Cleaning the Air Filter The air filter, which is located at the bottom of the projector, should be cleaned after every 100 hours of use. If it is not cleaned periodi- cally, it can become clogged with dust and prevent the projector from being ventilated properly.
  • Page 91 1. Switch the projector off and unplug the power cable from the wall socket. 2. Stand the projector with the handle at the top so that the filter is easily accessible. Caution: Stand the projector with the handle at the top to prevent dust from entering the projector.

    If the dirt is difficult to remove or if the filter is torn, replace it. Replacement lamps come with an air filter. Contact your EMP dealer or call an EPSON Service Centre. Be sure to request part number. 5. Replace the filter.

  • Page 99 Wait until the projector cools off before you try turning it back on. Check the air vents on the bottom and back of the projector to make sure they are not blocked. If they are, use the procedure described on page 75 to clean the filters.
  • Page 100 The projection lamp indicator is flashing red. Replace the projection lamp with a new one and turn the projector back on. If this does not solve the problem, there is a problem with the projector lamp’s internal circuitry that requires servicing. Contact your nearest service provider.

    Glossary Brightness. The balance of light and dark shades in an image. Composite video. A type of video signal that encodes colors, luminance and sychronization information so it can be carried in one signal. Contrast. A measure of the luminance differences between the highlights and shadows of an image.
  • Page 112 Sleep mode. The power cable is connected but the projector is switched off. In this mode the power LED lights up orange. If the projector is not used for 30 minutes the lamp switches itself off and after 30 seconds the projector goes into sleep mode.
