    SELECTING LOCATION PRE-INSTALLATION PREPARATION Clearances SELECTING LOCATION To determine the safest and most efficient location for your appli- ance, you must take into consideration the following guidelines: The location must allow for proper clearances (see Clearances, next column). Consider a location where heat output would not be affected by drafts, air conditioning ducts, windows, or doors.

    VENTING INSTALLATION A B-type venting system must be connected to the appliance for venting to the outside of the building. The following section is provided as a guide to a standard B-type vent installation. Standing codes requirements concerning B-type vent installations may vary within your state, province or local codes jurisdiction.

These rules apply to vents at 12 in. diameter or less and require a minimum height in accordance with the roof pitch and a minimum of 8 ft.

Place large back log (log 2) onto grate making sure notches rest over grate as shown in Figure 23. Place log 3 across logs 1 and 2 aligning pegs on log 3 with holes in logs 1 and 2 (see Figure 24).

The M36E, VM36E, M42E and VM42E B-vent fireplaces are approved for use with optional bi-fold glass doors (see Accessories, page 25). The glass panels may be ordered and installed anytime after the fireplace installation is complete.
