prohibited by local codes.

    PRODUCT FEATURES OPERATION This heater is clean burning. It requires no outside venting. There is no heat loss out a vent or up a chimney. Heat is generated by both realistic flames and glowing coals. This heater is designed for vent- free operation with flue damper closed.

    INSTALLATION Check Gas Type Installation and Clearances For Vent-Free Operation INSTALLATION NOTICE: This heater is intended for use as supple- mental heat. Use this heater along with your primary heating system. Do not install this heater as your primary heat source. If you have a central heating system, you may run system’s circulating blower while using heater.

Minimum Clearances For Side Combustible Material, Side Wall, and Ceiling A. Clearances from the side of the fireplace cabinet to any combus- tible material and wall should follow diagram in Figure 4.

If you do not meet the clearances listed below, you will need a hood.     OPERATING HEATER Continued Note: Home owners generally prefer to operate their heater with the chimney damper closed. This will put all the heat into the room. However, there may be times you will desire the full flames of the Hi heat setting but will find the heat output excessive.

The thermostat will gradually modulate the heat output and flame height from higher to lower settings, or pilot, in order to maintain the comfort level you select.

    INSPECTING BURNERS Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame patterns often. PILOT FLAME PATTERN Figure 42 shows a correct pilot flame pattern. Figure 43 shows an incorrect pilot flame pattern. The incorrect pilot flame is not touching the thermocouple. This will cause the thermocouple to cool.

CAUTION: You must keep control areas, burners, and circulating air passageways of heater clean. In- spect these areas of heater before each use. Have heater inspected yearly by a qualified service person. Heater may need more frequent cleaning due to exces- sive lint from carpeting, pet hair, bedding material, etc.
