GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

1. Do not open the housing. It is not possible
for the user to maintain any of the compo-
nents inside the housing. If an object should
fall into the unit during installation, please
contact a VDO Dayton dealer.

PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLATION
1. Prepare all components and tools required
for the main unit before starting installation.
2. This model is equipped with an extendable
LCD screen which is ejected forwards out of
the unit. Therefore, check before installation
that there is sufficient clearance to the in-
strument panel and to the gear shift lever
(Figure 2). In certain vehicle types the LCD
screen could contact the instrument panel or
the gear shift lever. If this is the case, the unit
must not be installed.

3. Install the unit within 30° of the horizontal
plane. (Figure 3)

4. If it is necessary to perform installation
operations (e.g. drilling holes) on the vehicle
body, please consult a motor vehicle dealer
beforehand.

2. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the housing.
Never use a rough cloth, thinners, benzene,
alcohol etc. If the unit is extremely dirty, care-
fully wipe off the dirt using a soft cloth mois-
tened with a small amount of cold or warm
water.
5. Use the screws supplied for the installation
of the unit. Using other screws may cause
damage (Figure 4).

6. The main unit is equipped with fastening
screw holes for the VDO Dayton installation
kit ("C" markings, Figure 5).
