Alkyl Benzene Lubricants
Alkyl benzene is a possible alternative to mineral oil in Ingersoll-Rand
compressors with HCFC refrigerants. Alkyl benzene's features include:
Thermal stability
Low tendency to foam
Stable viscosity curve
High miscibility with HCFC refrigerants
Optimum lubrication ability (reduced bearing friction)
The Lubrication Table shown below references acceptable alternatives to use.

The characteristics of the alternative lubricants correspond to normal standards based on
information published by the manufacturer. The use of these lubricants is possible, but
should be guided by past experience. These lubricants are for use with HCFC
refrigerants.
