Piston Rings
o 4 & 6 cylinder models have two rings, a chrome plated compression ring
and an oil ring
o Chrome plated rings provide excellent running durability under boundary
lubrication conditions
o Piston rings are sealed by gas pressure balancing the ring tension to the
proper value
o Provides excellent sealing under various pressure and speed conditions
Cylinder Design
o Crosshatch honing i.e. "Plateau honing"
o Cross-hatching allows for higher tolerance operation with marginal
lubrication
o Cross-hatching grooves help resist wear by retaining oil in the cylinder,
and therefore increases compressor life
Valves Plates
o Spring steel reed valves
o Valve reeds are matched to compressor design to optimize performance
and efficiency
o Flow passages optimized for minimal pressure drop
o High volumetric efficiencies due to minimal re-expansion volume
