  • Page 5 3 Connect the AC cord to an AC outlet. The demo display will begin when the AC cord is plugged into an AC outlet for the first time after purchase. When the power is turned on, the demo display will end. When the power is turned off, the demo display will begin again.

    REMOTE CONTROL Inserting batteries Detach the battery cover on the rear of the remote control and insert two R03 (size AAA) batteries. When to replace the batteries The maximum operational distance between the remote control and the sensor on the main unit should be approximately 5 meters (16 feet).

    MULTI JOG ENTER/ILLUMINATION DEMO/ECO DIMMING THE DISPLAY WINDOW BRIGHTNESS (DIMMER) The display window brightness can be adjusted to the following four levels: "DIM-OFF", "DIMMER 1", "DIMMER 2", and "DIMMER 3". "DIM-OFF" is the brightest level. When "DIMMER 3" is selected, the display is darkest, all button lamps go off, and the illumination light above the rotary panel also goes off.

    USING THE MAGICAL CHANGE PANEL This unit is equipped with the magical change panel (referred to as the "rotary panel" in this Operationg Instructions manual). Rotating the panel allows you to use different buttons. To rotate the panel, gently touch TOUCH SENSOR on each panel. Panel 1 comes in front when you purchase the unit.

    BBE SYSTEM The BBE system enhances the clarity of high-frequency sound. Use panel 3 (page 8). Press BBE repeatedly to select one of the three levels or the off position. Alternatively, press JOG MODE repeatedly until "BBE" appears on the display, then turn MULTI JOG right or left to select one of the three levels or the off position within 6 seconds.

    RADIO RECEPTION MANUAL TUNING POWER TUNER 1 Press TUNER repeatedly to select the desired band. If TUNER is pressed while the unit is turned off, the previously tuned station will be played (Direct Play Function). 2 Press f or g to select a station. Each time the button is pressed, the frequency changes.

    PRESETTING STATIONS TUNER The unit can store a total of 32 preset stations. When a station is stored, a preset number is assigned to the station. Use the preset number to tune in a preset station directly. 1 Press TUNER repeatedly to select a band. 2 Press f or g to select a station.

    BEFORE USING DISCS Before playing or recording on a disc, read this section thoroughly. USABLE DISCS This unit has two CD player systems. One is a CD player located on top of the unit, on which a conventional music CD, a finalized* CD-R or a finalized CD-RW can be played.

    CD PLAYING (USING CD PLAYER) BASIC OPERATIONS The CD player of this unit can play a conventional music CD, a CD-R and CD-RW. However, a CD-R or CD-RW which is not finalized* cannot be played on the CD player. Use the CD-R/RW player/recorder to play a non-finalized CD-R or CD-RW.

    BLANK SKIP FUNCTION CD BLANK SKIP The silent portions between the tracks recorded on a disc can be skipped during play. • Blank skip may not function with some discs. 1 Press CD/CD BLANK SKIP to select CD as the source.

    PROGRAMMED PLAY Up to 30 tracks can be programmed from the loaded disc. Use the remote control. 1 In stop mode, press PROGRAM while pressing SHIFT so that "PRGM" appears on the display. 2 Press the numbered buttons and +10 to program a track.

    RANDOM/REPEAT PLAY 0-9,+10 RANDOM/REPEAT PROGRAM SHIFT Use the remote control. Random play All the tracks on the disc can be played randomly. Repeat play A single track or all tracks can be played repeatedly. Press RANDOM/REPEAT repeatedly while pressing SHIFT. Each time it is pressed, the function changes in the following order.

    CD-R/CD-RW RECORDING BEFORE RECORDING NOTE • Never turn the unit off by pressing POWER or disconnecting the AC cord during the recording process.     RECORDING FROM THE RADIO OR THE CONNECTED EQUIPMENT ENTER/ ILLUMINATION TUNER AUX/D-IN zCD-R/RW OPEN/CLOSE 1 Load a CD-R or CD-RW in the CD-R/CD-RW player/ recorder.     FINALIZATION Finalization is the process of embedding a Table Of Contents (TOC) on a CD-R or CD-RW on which recording is completed. This process enables the CD-R and CD-RW to be played on the CD player of this unit or any other conventional CD players. (CD- RW discs, however, can be played only on CD-RW players.) Once finalized, a CD-R can no longer be recorded, while a CD- RW becomes recordable again if the tracks are erased or...

    ERASING RECORDINGS ON A CD-RW You can erase recordings on a CD-RW in the following three ways: (All these ways are applicable only to a CD-RW. Recordings on a CD-R cannot be erased in any way.) All tracks erasing erases all tracks on a CD-RW at one time. Last track erasing erases only the last track on a CD-RW.

When the power cord is plugged into an AC outlet for the first time after purchase or when the clock setting is canceled due to a power failure, the entire clock display flashes.

    FINALIZACIÓN La finalización es el proceso de grabar un índice (TOC) en un CD-R o en un CD-RW cuya grabación ya se ha completado. Este proceso permite que el CD-R y el CD-RW pueda reproducirse en el reproductor de disco compactos de esta unidad o en otros reproductores de discos compactos convencionales.

    BORRADO DE LA GRABACIÓN EN UN CD-RW Puede borrar la grabación de un CD-RW de las siguientes tres maneras: (Todas ellas se aplican sólo a las grabaciones de CD- RW. Las grabaciones de un CD-R no pueden borrarse de ningún modo.) Borrado de todas las pistas borra todas las pistas de un CD- RW de una sola vez.
