This operation manual contains all the information you need to install your scanner. For
quick installation instructions, see the Quick Start Guide accompanying your scanner.

Make Sure the power is OFF before installing.
Read all of the instructions.
Save these instructions for later use.
Follow all warning and instructions marked on the product.
When replacement parts are required, be sure that service technician has used replacement parts
specified by the manufacturer that have the same result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
Do not use this product near water or in rainy/moist situation.
Do not place on an unstable table to avoid the series of damage to the product.
The product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marketing
label.
Do not attempt to service this yourself as opening or removing the enclosure may expose you to
dangerous voltage or other hazards.
This unit has an autoranging input circuitry suitable for 120Vac and 240Vac.
The sound pressure level at the operators position according to IEC 7041:1982 is equal or less
than 70dB(A)

    Please remove all packing materials from the scanner. Check if any damage has occurred during shipment while you are unpacking the scanner. If you notice any damage, notify your dealer at once. Remember to save all shipping and packing materials if you want to transport the scanner in the future.

    ! Warning: You must unlock your scanner before using it. Failure to do so can cause damage to your scanner. To unlock your scanner, remove the document cover and push the restraint toward to the unlocked position.

    Check if your computer supports EPP for Parallel Port Mode. If it does, we suggest that you reconfigure your PC BIOS by setting the EPP mode for Parallel Port Mode. This will make your Astra 600P run even more smoothly. Please refer to your computer’s manual for further information about configuring the settings.

    Troubleshooting UMAX scanners are designed to be reliable and easy to install. If, however, you have a problem with your scanner, these troubleshooting steps should indicate the cause of the problem. If the scanner lamp flickers, is dim, or fails to come on: The scanning lamp is failing or has failed and needs to be changed.

    Cleaning Regularly cleaning the object glass will ensure that dirt or smudges will not reduce the quality of your scanned images. Before you clean the glass, make sure the scanner is turned off and the power cord is unplugged. Clean the object glass and document cover with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent or alcohol.
