Read all instructions carefully and completely before installing your new Backrest!
NOTE: You must install either a COBRA Mounting Kit (602-2100/602-2101) or a Harley Davidson 2-
point or 4 point Mounting kit before installing this backrest.
1. Remove the saddle bags carefully.
2. Install the mounting kit per the instructions that came with that kit.
3. If you are installing this backrest on a 2015-16 Street Glide Special or a 2015-16 Road Glide Special with coil-
over rear shocks you must first install the spacers supplied with the backrest between the right rear coil-over
shock and the frame and swing arm. See FIGURE 1. This will space the coil-over out far enough for the backrest
to fit properly. If your motorcycle is equipped with air shocks you do not need to install the spacers and can skip
to step 8.
SPECIAL NOTE: Some 2015 Street Glide Specials and Road Glide Specials came with the right rear coil-over
shock mounted upside down with the shock shaft pointed up. Make sure to flip the shock over if this is the case.
The shock shaft needs to be facing down as in FIGURE 1.
4. First, remove the top bolt of the right rear coil-over shock. See FIGURE 1.
5. Insert the supplied spacer between the frame and the coil-over shock and then re-install the bolt and tighten to
factory specs.
6. Then remove the bottom bolt from the right rear coil-over shock and insert the supplied spacer between the coil-
over and the swing arm. Re-install the bottom bolt and tighten to factory specifications. See FIGURE 1.
