Upgrading the software

1 With the new software loaded, the Pocketstu-
dio 5 disconnected from the computer, and
turned off, press and hold down the
RECORD keys. While holding them down,
turn on the Pocketstudio 5. The display
shows:

Restoring your data

Now you must restore any data you backed up and
the MIDI pattern files.

With the Pocketstudio 5 connected to your
computer, press and hold the

The update operation will take up to 10 min-
utes or so to complete
NOTE
IMPORTANT: DO NOT turn off or unplug the Pocketstu-
dio 5 while this operation is taking place.
You cannot use the Pocketstudio 5 while the operation
is taking place. Do not connect or disconnect any equip-
ment until the update operation is finished.
When the operation is finished, the Pocketstudio 5
automatically reboots and the display shows:

loading the song (formatting the card deleted the
MIDI pattern file—this is not an error, and we
explain below how to restore this file).

The update procedure has automatically cre-
ated and folders. If you backed up
MP3 SMF
these folders earlier, copy the contents of the
folder from your computer into the
MP3
folder on the Pocketstudio 5 "drive". Copy
the contents of the
SMF

To remove the Pocketstudio 5 from the com-
puter, follow the appropriate instructions in
"Format the card" on page 5.

Turn off your Pocketstudio 5 and turn it on
again.
Congratulations!
You can now start using your
Pocketstudio 5 with all the new features of the ver-
sion 2 software.
