  • Page 8 Cable Tie Figure 5 Mulching Plug Your lawn mower was shipped with the mulching plug already installed on the unit. If you want to mulch the lawn, leave it in place. For bagging purposes, remove the mulching plug and attach the grass catcher to the mower.

  • Page 11 Using Your Lawn Mower Your mower is designed to operate as a mulching or a rear bagger unit. • For converting from a mulcher to a rear bagger unit, refer to instructions on page 8 of this manual. Do not operate mower without the mulching cover or the grass catcher properly installed and tightly secured.
  • Page 12 Always observe safety rules when performing any maintenance. • The warrantyon this lawn mower does not cover items that have been subjected to operator abuse or negligence. To receive full value from the warranty, operator must maintain the lawn mower as instructed in this manual.
  • Page 13 Engine Oil Only use high quality detergent oil rated with API service classification SF, SG or SH. Select the oil's viscosity grade according to your expected operating temperature. Refer to page 10 of this manual for viscosity chart. • Stop engine and wait several minutes before checking oil level.
  • Page 14 Blade Care Periodically inspect the blade adapter for cracks, especially if you strike a foreign object. Replace when necessary. WARNING: When inspecting the cutting blade, protect hands by using heavy gloves or a rag to grasp the cutting blade. Disconnect spark plug wire and ground it to post on engine.

Clean engine • Clean engine and remove all grass clippings, dirt, and chaff from the exterior of the engine, Remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the cooling fins, intake screen levers, and linkages.
