4.2 Customizing Profiles and
Sounds
Select Profiles from the Start menu to access the screen
shown on the left below. Select Activate in this screen if you
want to switch to a different profile, or modify the attributes of
an existing profile. Select Sounds if you want to customize
the sounds for ring tones, notifications, and reminders.
Activate
Selecting Activate opens the screen shown on the right
above. All available profiles are listed, and the active profile
is indicated by a check mark to the right. Profiles are used
to configure how your Smartphone notifies you of events
such as an incoming call, an approaching appointment, or
an arriving message. For example, when you are attending
a meeting, you can choose the Meeting profile, which turns
off your system sound volume, lowers the ring volume of your
Smartphone, notifies you of incoming calls via vibration, etc.
Each profile is pre-defined to use either an audible ring noti-
fication, or a vibration notification, with different alarm types,
volumes, etc., as listed in the table on the next page.
