    Using Your Radio Operation CTCSS Privacy Codes 38 Privacy Codes CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System) is an advanced tone coding system allowing you to select one of 38 privacy codes to reduce interference from other users on the channel. If you are using a privacy code, both radios must be tuned to the same channel and privacy code to communicate.
  • Page 5 Using Your Radio Operation NOAA* All Hazards Hazards Radio Icon Radio Channels and Alert You can use your microTALK NOAA All Hazards Radio channels transmitting in your area. Alert Icon You can also program your microTALK to sound a tone alert when a local NOAA channel activates an Emergency All Hazards Alert.
  • Page 6 Using Your Radio Operation To reset the display to “OO:oo:oo,” press the Lock Button Lock button. While in Stopwatch Mode, your microTALK radio will alert you to incoming calls, but the LCD will continue to show the stopwatch display. You can also transmit as normal with the Talk button or in VOX Mode.

    Using Your Radio Operation Voice Activated Transmit (VOX) Mode Button In VOX Mode, your microTALK used “hands-free,” automatically transmitting when you speak. You can set the VOX sensitivity level to fit the volume of your voice and avoid VOX Icon transmissions triggered by background noise.

Press the Mode button until the Memory icon and the memory channel location (1 through 10) flashes on the display. 2. Press the Channel Up or Channel Down button Memory Icon to select a memory channel location.

    Using Your Radio Operation microTALK ® Range Maximum Range Your microTALK ® radio has a range of up to ten (10) miles (16 km). Your range will vary depending on terrain and conditions. In flat, open country your radio will operate at maximum range.

A user must be licensed prior to operating on channels 1 through 7 or 15 through 22, which comprise the GMRS channels of this radio.
