One way to find what
you're looking for on the
Web is to use a search
engine.
A search engine takes
information that is
scattered on Web sites all
around the world and lists
it for easy viewing and
printing.
The Internet has no owner. It
is just a word for the entire
network of computers around
the world.
Type in the name of the Web
site you want to access, in
the address bar. If you then
press Ctrl and Enter, the text
http://www
is added
automatically.
1. Press the Search 5 button on the Internet keyboard. The
search page is displayed.
2. Enter a keyword in the Search box.
3. Click the Search 5 button. The search engine displays a list
of Web pages containing your keyword.
A Web site in a newspaper or magazine is displayed in the
following format: www.compaq.com.
If you want to visit a page which you do not have stored under
your Favourites, you have to type in the address manually.
To type in that address directly, click on the address bar in
Internet Explorer and type the exact address. Pressing <Enter>
or clicking 'go' on the right hand side of the address bar will
trigger the browser to search the page.
If you see an interesting page which you are likely to want to
visit later, you can store it as 'favourite'. Click Favourites in the
menu bar and click Add to favourites. You can store the address
in any of the folders.
If you want to visit one of your favourite pages, click
Favourites on the button bar. In the panel on the left you will
see a list of all your previously stored pages.
