  • Page 32: Direct Connections, Local Connection Using Microsoft Peer-to-peer Networking (microsoft Windows Only)

Use Microsoft Windows to share a local printer over the network. The operating system handles all of the networking issues. The printer will print in this configuration, but it will not have access to the HP Color LaserJet 1600 Toolbox. Also, because Microsoft peer-to-peer networking is unidirectional, network users do not receive printer-status messages when they print to the printer.

The HP Color LaserJet 1600 printer is compatible with USB version 2.0 specifications. A distinction exists between a USB Host and a USB Device. The HP Color LaserJet 1600 is a USB Device. It can only connect to a USB Host or a USB Hub.

  • Page 35: Regional Settings

Regional settings When the HP Color LaserJet 1600 printing-system software is installed, the installation program uses your computer’s regional settings to determine which language version of the software to install. If the regional settings are incorrect on your computer, the HP Color LaserJet 1600 printing-system software might install the software in a language different from what you were expecting.

  • Page 36

Changes to regional settings affect only the languages your computer supports. The HP Color LaserJet 1600 printing-system software does not support all of the languages your computer supports. For a list of the languages that the HP Color LaserJet 1600 printing- system software supports, see Click the Advanced tab and select the appropriate language from the Language for non-Unicode programs drop-down list.
