This compact unit has been designed to take up a minimum of space, while still providing an AM/FM stereo radio, a compact disc player and a cassette player/recorder. The CD player has a 19-track programmable memory and high-speed music search.

    PREPARATION FOR USE UNPACKING AND SET-UP • Remove the main unit and speakers from the carton and remove all packing materials from the components. Please save the carton and packing materials, if possible, in case the unit ever needs to be returned for service. The original carton and packing materials are the only way to protect the unit from damage in transit.

    • You may wrap any excess speaker wire around the wire holders on the back of each speaker cabinet. POWER SUPPLY • After connecting the speakers and extending the FM lead wire antenna as described above, you are ready to connect the AC plug to a 110 -120V 60Hz AC outlet.

    OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS LISTENING TO THE RADIO Notes: • Make sure that the FM antenna is extended to its full length. • Make sure that the FM MODE switch (on the back cabinet) is set to the STEREO position. 1. Set the Function selector to ‘RADIO’. 2.

    PLAYING COMPACT DISCS NORMAL PLAYBACK 1. Press the POWER button to turn the unit ‘On’. The POWER LED indicator comes 2. Set the Function selector to CD. Two dashes “– –” appear in the CD display. This indicates that there is no disc in the player, or that the player cannot read the disc.

    TO BEGIN PLAYBACK FROM A SPECIFIC TRACK 1. Insert your disc and wait until the display shows the total number of tracks. 2. Press either the Skip Forward number flashes in the display. Then press the PLAY/PAUSE playback on that track. Note: You must press the PLAY/PAUSE the track number or the display will return to the total track number display.

    PROGRAMMED PLAYBACK This feature allows you to program up to 19 tracks on a CD to play in any order you desire. You can program the player to skip the tracks you do not like and to repeat the tracks you do like. Note: The CD player must be in the Stop mode in order to enter a program in the Memory.

If you make a mistake while programming tracks, or to cancel the program completely, press the PROGRAM button so that the PROGRAM LED Indicator is flashing, and then press STOP by opening the CD door, selecting another function, or switching the power’Off’. REPEAT PLAYBACK This feature allows you to repeat a single track, or the entire disc automatically.

    PLAYING A CASSETTE TAPE 1. Set the Function selector to the ‘TAPE’ position. 2. Push the POWER button to turn the unit ‘On’. The POWER LED ‘On’ Indicator comes on. 3. Open the cassette control key cover. The finger notch is on the right side of the cabinet.
  • Page 13 MAKING A TAPE RECORDING You can record directly from the Radio or CD player to the cassette recorder. 1. Press the POWER button to switch the system ‘On’. The Power ‘On’ Indicator comes on. 2. Select the source you wish to record, Radio or CD, and follow the instructions for that function.

    STEREO HEADPHONE JACK The stereo headphone jack is located on the back panel. Connect a set of stereo headphones (not included) with a 3.5 mm mini plug to this jack for private listening. The speakers shut off automatically when headphones are connected to the headphone jack.

    CARE AND MAINTENANCE ABOUT CASSETTE TAPES Whenever you record on a cassette any previously recorded material is erased as the new material is accorded. To prevent you from accidentally erasing material which you wish to save, blank cassettes are equipped with erase prevention tabs for each side of the tape.

    • Use only well-known brands of tape. Avoid use of C-120 cassettes. Furthermore, do not expose cassettes to direct sunlight, dust or oil, and do not touch the tape surfaces. HEAD CLEANING The tape heads, pinch roller and capstan require periodic cleaning. This removes particles of the metal oxide coating that wear off the tape and accumulate on these parts and impair performance.
