Do not attempt to use the printer in any way not described in this manual. Warning ➤ You may cause an electric shock/fire or damage the printer if you ignore any of these safety precautions.

    If flammable solvents come in contact with electrical components inside the printer, it could cause a fire or electric shock. Always unplug the printer from the power outlet before cleaning the printer. If you do not unplug the printer before cleaning it, you could injure yourself or damage the printer.

    I Maintaining the printer Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the printer. There are no user serviceable parts inside the printer. The printer contains high-voltage components. Never attempt any maintenance procedure not described in this guide. I Working around the printer Do not use inflammable sprays near the printer.

    To avoid the risk of fire or electric shocks, install the printer in a location with an ambient temperature range of 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F) and humidity of 10% to 90% (condensation free).

    Never remove the plug by pulling on the cord. Do not use an extension lead. If you do not intend to use the printer for a long period of time, unplug the printer. Never use a power supply voltage other than that supplied in the country of purchase.
  • Page 13 I Regularly unplug the printer, and clean the plug itself and around the plug to remove accumulated dus. If you leave the printer connected to the power outlet for a long time in a place subject to much dust, hummidity or greasy fumes, dust accumulated around the power plug takes up moisture to cause insufficient insulation, then a fire.

    Also, to cancel printing in progress, press this button. This printer does not have a Power switch. Warming up starts as soon as it is plugged in. Unless unplugged, the printer will remain ready to print with a very low level of power consumption.

    ➡ Replacing an Ink Tank If print head cleaning and ink tank replacement do not resolve the problem, the print head may be worn out. Contact a Canon service representative. ➤ Note You will be alerted if you enable a low ink warning.

    BCI-24 Color ➤ Note Damage caused by using a refilled cartridge is not covered by the Canon warranty. Canon recommends using only original Canon ink tanks to ensure the best quality. Ensure that the printer is on, and then open the front cover.
