Disconnect the recorder’s mains lead from the mains when connecting them. Use the DV IN jack on the front panel if the equipment has a DV output jack (i.LINK jack) (page 71).     DVD Recorder Basics Inserting and Formatting a Disc - RW - RW Video When you first insert a new disc, the recorder will ask you to format the disc. Follow the steps below to format the disc. You can also reformat a DVD+RW or DVD-RW to create a blank disc.

    Changing the Name of a Recorded Programme (Title Input) - RW - RW Video The titles recorded on a disc are named sequentially ([Title 1], [Title 2], …) by default. You can rename titles using the display for entering characters, which also appears for renaming a disc or station.

    • To insert a space, select [Space] and press ENTER. • To insert a character, move the cursor to the right of the position where you want to insert the character. Select the character from the character palette and press ENTER. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to enter the remaining characters.

    DTS Digital Surround™ playback, the supplied speaker system must be connected to the digital optical jack of the recorder. Note on playing DVDs with a DTS sound track DTS audio signals are output only through the DIGITAL OUT jack. When you play a DVD with DTS sound tracks, set [DTS] to [On] in [Audio] Setup (page 80).
