    FAMILIARIZATION THE RECEIVER The digital satellite receiver has 2 Common Interface slots and an embedded Viaccess smart card reader.     The EPG information is not always available. Sometimes the service provider (who sends the EPG information) supplies only the program name, the now/next infor- mation or sometimes nothing at all. EchoStar has no influence on this matter. Make sure the local time is set otherwise you can not view EPG information because it needs the correct time (Refer to the Local Time menu).

    The VCR key is used to setup the RCU to control your basic VCR functions. You can program the SAT mode keys to control a number of satellite receivers. The RCU is default programmed to control the EchoStar satellite receiver that came in the same box. NOTE Some codes are quite similar.
