How and when do I assign the point values for each
question?
Point value assignment is part of the quiz grading process; point
values may be assigned to quiz questions at any time after responses
have been retrieved. When a quiz is designed, every question has the
same "weight"—one point. At any time during the quiz grading
process, the point values for any or all questions can be reassigned
by clicking the Points button and editing the values next to each
question. QuizManager will automatically calculate the new points
distribution percentages for the quiz.
Can the grades from quizzes be saved as a spreadsheet file
or be copied and pasted directly into a tab-delimited grading
program?
Yes. The Export feature in QuizManager creates a tab-delimited file
that can be opened with a spreadsheet program or imported into a
gradebook program. It can also work with a roster exported from a
gradebook package, allowing the teacher to manually correlate
mismatched names.
In essay responses, will AlphaQuiz highlight or underline key
words that were defined when creating the question?
No. That feature isn't available in AlphaQuiz.
What happens if the AlphaSmart device is turned off before a
quiz is completed? What appears on the screen when it is
turned back on? How does a student continue with the quiz?
All entered responses are saved when the AlphaSmart device is
turned off. When turned back on, the AlphaSmart device starts up in
its default SmartApplet, usually AlphaWord. The student would just
press
, select AlphaQuiz, and then log into the quiz again. All
applets
responses are preserved and displayed as if the student had never
exited the quiz. The only exception to this rule occurs if the
AlphaSmart device is turned off during a quiz that requires the
