    Unless otherwise specified, all instructions in this manual assume that you are starting from the Home screen. To get to the Home screen, you may need to unlock the phone or keypad. (For more information, refer to “Securing Your Phone” on page 11.)

    The battery icon level. Two to three minutes before the battery becomes too low to operate, the empty battery icon will flash and a tone will sound. If you continue to operate the phone without charging, the phone Menu, then touch Settings will power off.
  • Page 10 Insert the battery into the opening in the back of the device, making sure the connectors align. Press lightly on the bottom end of the battery (2) down into the phone until it slips into place. Install the (optional) memory card.

    While powering on, the phone connects with the network, then displays the Home screen and active alerts. Note: Your phone’s internal antenna is located along the bottom back of the phone. Do not block the antenna; doing so may affect call quality or cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than is necessary.

    Section 5: Entering Text This section describes how to enter words, letters, punctuation, and numbers when you need to enter text. Your phone provides both sliding and screen QWERTY keyboards to support quick and easy text input. Using the Sliding QWERTY Keyboard The R730 has a full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
