TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
The sound suddenly
goes off.
Only the speaker on
one side can be
heard.
Only the center
speaker outputs
substantial sound.
No sound from the
effect speakers.
No sound from the
center speaker.
No sound from the
surround speakers.
No sound from the
surround back
speakers.
No sound from the
subwoofer.

Cause
The protection circuit has been activated
because of a short circuit, etc.
The sleep timer has turned the unit off.
The sound is muted.
Incorrect cable connections.
Incorrect balance settings in the SET
MENU.
When playing a monaural source with a
CINEMA DSP program, the source signal
is directed to the center channel, and the
front and surround speakers output effect
sounds.
The sound field programs are turned off.
A Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital or DTS
decoding DSP program is being used with
material not encoded with Dolby
Surround, Dolby Digital or DTS.
The output level of the center speaker is
set to minimum.
"CENTER SP" in the SET MENU is set
to NONE.
One of the Hi-Fi DSP programs (except
for 7ch Stereo) has been selected.
The output level of the surround speakers
is set to minimum.
"SURR. LR SP" in the SET MENU is set
to NONE.
A monaural source is being played with
STRAIGHT/EFFECT set to STRAIGHT.
Presence speakers are selected.
"SURR. LR SP" in the SET MENU is set
to NONE.
"SURR B L/R SP" in the SET MENU is
set to NONE.
"LFE/BASS OUT" in the SET MENU is
set to FRONT when a Dolby Digital or
DTS signal is being played.
"LFE/BASS OUT" in the SET MENU is
set to SWFR or FRONT when a 2-channel
source is being played.
The source does not contain low bass
signals.
Remedy
Check that the impedance selector setting is correct.
Check the speaker wires are not touching each other
and then turn this unit back on.
Turn on the power, and play the source again.
Press MUTE to cancel a mute.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.
Adjust the SP LEVEL settings.
Press STRAIGHT/EFFECT to turn them on.
Select another sound field program.
Raise the level of the center speaker.
Select the appropriate mode for your center speaker.
Select another sound field program.
Raise the output level of the surround speakers.
Select the appropriate speaker mode for the surround
L/R speakers.
Press STRAIGHT/EFFECT to turn on the sound
fields. Then select another sound field program.
Select surround back speakers in PR/SBch SELECT.
If the speaker mode for the surround L/R speakers is
set to NONE, the speaker mode for the surround back
speaker is automatically set to NONE. Select the
appropriate speaker mode for the surround L/R
speaker mode.
Select LRG or SML.
Select SWFR or BOTH.
Select BOTH.
