Troubleshooting for auto setup procedure
Before auto setup
Error message
Connect MIC!

During auto setup
Press j / i to display the detailed information about the individual error. Select RETRY to try auto setup procedure again.

W-1:OUT OF PHASE

• If the warning message W-2 or W-3 appears on the OSD, no corrections are made. In such cases, correct the problem, select CHECK
in DISTANCE or LEVEL, then perform the auto setup procedure again.
• If the message W-1, W-4 or W-5 appears on the OSD, corrections are made. However, the corrections may not be correct. In such
cases, correct the problem, then perform the auto setup procedure again on the relevant setting items.
Cause
Optimizer microphone is not connected.
Headphones are connected.
Cause
Front L/R channel signal(s) is (are) not
detected.
A surround channel signal is not detected.
A presence channel signal is not detected.
Only right surround back channel signal is
detected.
Background noise is too loud.
Surround back speaker(s) is (are) connected,
though surround L/R speakers are not.
The optimizer microphone was unplugged
during the auto setup procedure.
The optimizer microphone does not detect test
tones.
The auto setup procedure was cancelled
because a setting which affects the auto setup
was changed during the procedure.
Cause
Speaker polarity is not correct. This message
may appear depending on the speakers even
when the speakers are connected correctly.
The distance between the speaker and the
listening position is over 24 meters (80ft.).
The difference of volume level among speakers
is excessive. (No level correction is made.)
The phase polarity of the subwoofer is not
correct.
The result may not be correct because the
volume was changed during the auto setup
procedure.
Remedy
• Connect the supplied optimizer microphone to the
OPTIMIZER MIC jack on the front panel.
• Unplug the headphones.
Remedy
• Select the front speakers with SPEAKER A or B.
• Check the front L/R speaker connections.
• Check the surround speaker connections.
• Check the presence speaker connections.
• Connect the surround back speaker to the LEFT
SURROUND BACK SPEAKERS terminal if you
only have one surround back speaker.
• Try auto setup procedure in quiet environment.
• Turn off noisy electric equipment like air conditioners
(etc.) or move it away from this unit.
• Connect surround speakers when you use (a)
surround back speaker(s).
• Connect the supplied optimizer microphone to
OPTIMIZER MIC jack on the front panel.
• Check the microphone setting.
• Check the speaker connections and placement.
• Perform the auto setup procedure again.
Remedy
• Check the speaker connections.
• Bring the speaker closer to the listening position.
• Readjust the speaker installation.
• Check the speaker connections.
• Use speakers of similar quality.
• Adjust the output volume of the subwoofer.
• We recommend that you select the opposite phase on
the subwoofer if the subwoofer has a phase switch.
• Perform the auto setup procedure again. Do not
change the volume during the auto setup procedure.
