Since DSP-AX640SE does not incorporate a tuner, descriptions on tuning are not applicable for DSP-AX640SE. Illustrations for the RX-V640RDS are mainly used for explanations. -

CONNECTIONS I Connections Be sure to connect the left channel (L), right channel (R), “+” (red) and “–” (black) in accordance with the markers on this unit, the speakers, and the speaker cables. If the connections are faulty, no sound will be heard from the speakers, and if the polarity of the speaker connections is incorrect, the sound will be unnatural and lack bass. - Page 19 A rear center speaker can be connected to these terminals. I Virtual CINEMA DSP With Virtual CINEMA DSP, you can enjoy all DSP programs without rear speakers. It creates virtual speakers to reproduce a natural sound field. The traditional stereo system that uses only two speakers is not capable of recreating a realistic sound field. YAMAHA’s DSP requires four effect speakers to recreate sound fields based on the measured sound field data.
