    As a general safety precaution, avoid touching any metal parts. Always use the Toshiba AC adapter that was provided with your computer, or use Toshiba recommended alternate models to avoid any risk of fire or other damage to the computer. Close the display panel and turn the computer upside down to locate the memory module slot cover.

To avoid damaging the memory module, be careful not to touch its pin connector on the side you insert into the computer. Remove the new memory module from its antistatic packaging.

Your display contains an extremely large number of thin-film transistors (TFT) and is manufactured using high-precision technology.     Control buttons When a step instructs you to click or choose an item, move the cursor to the item, then press and release the primary (left-hand) button. To double-click, press the primary button twice in rapid succession. The primary button usually corresponds to the left mouse button.

    If you insert the disc incorrectly, it may jam the drive. If this happens, contact Toshiba support for assistance. Push the disc tray in by pressing gently on the center of the tray until it clicks into place.

    The RTC battery powers the RTC memory that stores your system configuration settings and the current time and date information. It maintains this information for up to a month while the computer is turned off. TECHNICAL NOTE: The RTC battery does not charge while the computer is turned off, even when AC power is attached.

Changing the main battery When your main battery has run out of power, you have two options: plug in the AC adapter or install a fresh main battery.

Verify that the computer is on by looking at the on/off indicator. If the indicator is glowing, the computer is on. If you are using an AC adapter, verify that the computer is receiving power from the external power source by looking at the AC power light.
