¤ Carefully lift the cover upwards out of the notches. Registering the handset A Gigaset SL56 handset can be registered to up to four base stations. You must initiate handset registration on the handset and on the base station. After it has registered, the handset returns to idle status.

First steps Placing the handset in the charging cradle ¤ Plug the charging cradle mains adapter into a mains power socket. ¤ Place the handset in the charging cra- dle with the display facing forward. To charge the battery pack, leave the handset in the charging cradle.
Making calls Making an external call External calls are calls using the public tel- ephone network. Enter the number and press the talk key. Press and hold the talk key c and then enter the number. You can cancel the dialling operation with the end call key a.
Operating the handset Switching between earpiece and handsfree mode Press the handsfree key. During a call and when listening to the answering machine (depending on the base station), switch handsfree on or off. If you wish to place the handset in the charging cradle during a call: ¤...

Using the directory and lists You can store voice patterns for a total of 30 directory entries. Entries with voice patterns are marked with ´. You can also perform voice dialling func- tions via an activated Bluetooth headset. Recording voice patterns Record your voice pattern in quiet sur- roundings.
