Troubleshooting

If You Cannot Make Clear Copies

Problem
Copies appear dirty.
The reverse side of an orig-
inal image is copied.
A shadow appears on cop-
ies if you use pasted origi-
nals.
The same copy area is dirty
whenever making copies.

Copies are too light.
Parts of the paper are not
copied.
Copies are blank.
A moiré pattern is pro-
duced on copies.

Image density is too dark.
Image density is too dark.
Image density is too dark.
The exposure glass or ADF
is dirty.
Image density is too light.
The paper is not appropri-
ate.
Toner bottle is almost emp-
ty.
The original is not placed
correctly.
An improper paper size is
selected.
The original is not placed
correctly.
Your original has a dot pat-
tern image or many lines.

Adjust the image density. See p.28

Change the orientation of the origi-
nal.
Put mending tape over the pasted

you use damp or rough grain pa-
per.

place originals face down. When us-
ing the ADF, place them face up. See
p.19 "Placing Originals".
Place the original on the exposure
glass at a slight angle.
