However, if your CB is not working properly, follow these suggestions to see if you can eliminate the problem. If you still have a problem, take the CB to your local RadioShack store for assistance.

You can determine the source of the noise by turning off the engine and operating the CB with the ignition set...
Modifying or tampering with the TRC-401’s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate your TRC-401’s warranty and void your FCC authorization to operate it. If your TRC-401 is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
