    S Keep fuel and oil caps, screws, and fas- teners securely tightened. S Use only Poulan accessories and re- placement parts as recommended. HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION S Do not smoke while handling fuel or while operating the saw.
  • Page 3 S Mix and pour fuel in an outdoor area on bare ground; store fuel in a cool, dry, well ventilated place; and use an approved, marked container for all fuel purposes. Wipe up all fuel spills before starting saw. S Move at least 10 feet (3 meters) from fuel- ing site before starting engine.

    MAINTAIN CONTROL Stand to the left of the saw Never reverse hand positions Elbow locked Thumb on under side of handlebar S Keep a good, firm grip on the saw with both hands when the engine is running and don’t let go. A firm grip will help you reduce kickback and maintain control of the saw.

    Poulan Poulan Pro oil resists high temperature thinning. If Poulan Poulan Pro bar and chain oil is not available, use a good grade SAE 30 oil. S Never use waste oil for bar and chain lu- brication. S Always stop the engine before removing the oil cap.

    S Keep the chain out of dirt and sand. Even a small amount of dirt will quickly dull a chain and thus increase the possibility of kickback. S Practice cutting a few small logs using the following technique to get the “feel” of using your saw before you begin a major sawing operation.
