Follow these steps to install batteries.

    Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them. Caution: If you do not plan to use the SCP-97 for a week or more, or if you plan to power it using only an AC or DC adapter, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that destroy electronic parts.

Both are available at your local RadioShack store.
