Each configuration has its own pair of stereo front speakers and can use the same subwoofer, center, surround, and surround back speakers, as required.

Connecting the AV receiver—Continued Connecting Antenna This section explains how to connect the supplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna, and how to connect commercially available outdoor FM and AM antennas. The AV receiver won’t pick up any radio signals without any antenna connected, so you must connect the antenna to use the tuner.

Optical Digital Jacks The AV receiver’s optical digital jacks have shutter-type covers that open when an optical plug is inserted and close when it’s removed.

■ Onkyo for System Control , which stands for Remote Interactive over HDMI, is the name of the system control function found on Onkyo components. The AV receiver can be used with CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), which allows system control over HDMI and is part of the HDMI standard.

Use a multichannel analog audio cable, or several normal audio cables, to connect the AV receiver’s MULTI CH: FRONT L/R, CENTER, SURR L/R, SURR BACK L/R, and SUBWOOFER jacks to the 7.1-channel analog audio output on your DVD player.

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down the [VCR/DVR] button, press the [ON/STANDBY] button.

Page 156 Troubleshooting—Continued • With some CD and LD players, you won’t be able to playback DTS material properly even though your player is connected to a digital input on the AV receiver. This is usually because the DTS bitstream has been processed (e.g., output level, sampling rate, or frequency response changed) and the AV receiver doesn’t recognize it as a genuine DTS signal.
