    Central Processing Unit (CPU) The motherboard comes with a 940-pin AM2 socket designed for the Athlon X2/Athlon 64/Athlon ™ The AM2 socket has a different pinout from the 940-pin socket designed for the AMD Opteron processor. Make sure you use a CPU designed for the AM2 socket.

    2.3.2 Installing the heatsink and fan The AMD Athlon 64FX/Athlon ™ specially designed heatsink and fan assembly to ensure optimum thermal condition and performance. Make sure that you use only AMD-certified heatsink and fan assembly.
